Processing Fees for Immigration to Canada

The immigration fee for visa application to Canada is set by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). These processing fees must be paid along with your visa application. Processing fees for applicants seeking temporary or permanent visas will depend on the number of family members going to Canada. Visa processing fees are the same for all countries or regions and are subject to change as deemed fit by the IRCC. Applicants must understand that the processing fees for visa applications are quite different from fees paid to authorized agents such as an attorney for assistance during visa applications.

Permanent Residence Processing Fee

There is no fixed price for permanent residence fee as it varies depending on the immigration stream or program one is applying under. Again, applicants will be required to provide payment for the Right of Permanent Residence Fee upon approval of the application. This fee is different from the processing fee and must be by all approved applicants regardless of the program you applied under.

Business Immigration Processing Fee

All applicants with the desire to go to Canada under the investor, entrepreneur, or self-employed stream of immigration will be required to pay the following processing fees.

Primary applicant + spouse or conjugal partner =                                             CAD 2400

Primary applicant + a dependent under the age of 22 or a dependent

Above the age of 22 who is unable to provide financially for themselves = CAD 1800

Economic Immigration Processing Fees

This category covers fees for Quebec Skilled Workers, Provincial Nominee Program, Atlantic Immigration Pilot, Federal Skilled Trades, Federal Skilled Workers, and Canadian Experience Class.

Applicants applying under any of the programs will be required to pay the following processing fees.

Primary applicant (Processing fee and right of permanent residence fee) =             CAD 1325

Primary applicant + spouse or conjugal partner

(including the right of permanent residence fee) =                                                        CAD 2650

Primary applicant + a dependent under the age of 22 or a dependent

above the age of 22 who is unable to provide financially for themselves =             CAD 1550

Family Sponsorship Processing Fees

Applicants who are permanent residents in Canada and wish to bring their loved ones to Canada will be required to make the following payments for processing their visas.

Grandparent/parent/ spouse or conjugal partner (including sponsorship,

Primary applicant fee and right to permanent residence fee) =                                 CAD 1050

Dependent child of the primary applicant + grandparent/ parent/ spouse =          CAD 1200

Note: fees mentioned above do not contain the CAD 500 Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPFR) which all applicants must pay upon approval of the application for permanent residence. Applicants should also note that they might be required to pay additional fees depending on the program they applied under.

Temporary Residence Fee

Just like the permanent residence processing fee, the temporary residence processing fee varies alike depending on the program of application.

Visitor Visa Processing Fee

Applicants who require a visitor visa to travel to Canada are to make the following processing fees.

Visitor visa for single or multiple entries into Canada =                               CAD 100

Visitor visa for a family of 5 or more requiring single or multiple =           CAD 500

Visitor visa extension =                                                                                        CAD 100 per person

Work Permit Processing Fee

The cost of processing a work permit is the same for applicants regardless of their job type or program applied under. The following are the set fees to be paid to obtain your work permit.
