Advertising and affiliate disclosure

New Startings is reader-supported. This page explains exactly how that works, in line with the FTC's guidance on endorsements and disclosures.

Affiliate relationships

Some outbound links to third-party services — including telehealth platforms, nutrition programs, supplements and consumer health devices — are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or buy, we may receive a commission from that company. You never pay more because of it, and we receive nothing for merely writing about a company.

What a commission does not buy

  • It does not buy a recommendation, a rating, or a ranking position.
  • It does not give a partner review or approval rights over our writing.
  • It does not stop us from describing limitations, costs, cancellation terms or risks.

How we label

Every article that contains affiliate links carries a disclosure near the top of the page, before the first link, and our sitewide disclosure appears in the footer of every page. We do not use disguised advertising, fake news layouts, fake countdown timers, or invented testimonials.

Advertising standards we follow

Because we advertise on platforms with strict health policies, our pages and our ads follow these rules:

  • No claims of specific or guaranteed health results, weight loss amounts, or timelines.
  • No before-and-after imagery, no images implying an unexpected or idealised body outcome.
  • No language that assumes or implies a reader's personal health status, weight or body type.
  • No promotion of prescription medication for sale, no dosage guidance, and no sourcing instructions. Prescription topics are covered as educational explanations of how care works.
  • No unapproved or misleading supplement claims, and no claims to cure or treat disease.

Sponsored content

If we ever publish content paid for by a brand, it is clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the article, and it is not counted as editorial coverage.
