About

A calmer place to read about metabolic health

New Startings is an independent publication about healthy living, nutrition, metabolism, biohacking and longevity — written for adults who want context instead of hype.

Why we exist

Weight and metabolic health is one of the noisiest categories on the internet. Marketing claims move faster than the research, and the loudest pages tend to be the least careful. We write the opposite kind of page: what is actually known, what is uncertain, and what to ask a clinician before you decide anything.

How we research and review

  • We build articles from published research, professional-society guidance and government health sources, and we say plainly when evidence is thin.
  • Every article is edited for accuracy and for claim discipline — a second reader checks that nothing implies a promised outcome.
  • We update pages when the underlying guidance changes, and the publication date on each article reflects its most recent substantive review.
  • We do not publish personal medical advice, diagnose conditions, recommend dosages, or discuss how to obtain medication outside a licensed clinical relationship.

What we will never do

  • Promise a number of pounds, a timeline, or a guaranteed result.
  • Publish before-and-after imagery or idealised body comparisons.
  • Address readers as though we know their body, weight or health status.
  • Present a commercial partner's claims as our own editorial conclusion.
  • Sell, supply, import or facilitate the sale of prescription medication.

How we make money

Some links to third-party health services and products are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up. That never changes what we publish, and it never costs you more. Our full advertising and affiliate disclosure explains the details.
